Research/Present Projects
  • Medium term survival of glenoid components in total shoulder arthroplasty – analysis/grading of radiolucencies.
  • Gleno thoracic fusion as an adjunct to scapulectomy for scapular tumours.
  • Management of spastic hip dysplasia—The Full Monty—pelvic & femoral procedures
Audit
Actively participated in audit studies at various levels including data collection, analysis of results and their presentation.
In India
  • Postoperative infection audit: carried out at the KEM Hospital, Bombay, India. Postoperative infection rates, which were around 8-10 %, were analysed and recommendations made regarding antibiotic prophylaxis, wound management and nursing factors. A drop in infection rate to an acceptable 1-2% was the result of improved theatre and postoperative protocols.
  • Calliper use in post polio residual paralysis: Carried out at the B.J.Wadia Hospital for children, Bombay, India. This was in conjunction with our physiotherapy and occupational therapy colleagues to gauge the acceptability of callipers and the role of surgery to improve compliance.

  • Corin hemiarthroplasty in management of displaced intracapsular femoral neck fractures at the Kings Mill Hospital, Mansfield.
  • Comparative study of intraarticular Hyalgan v/s arthroscopic washout in early knee arthritis, at City hospital, Nottingham.
  • Tonnis Triple Pelvic Osteotomy for acetabular dysplasia at the Sheffield Children’s Hospital
